Klay Thompson took a walk on the wild side yesterday on New York’s FOX5.
The Golden State Warriors shooting guard happened to be taking a stroll through Manhattan when he was stopped and asked for his thoughts on all the scaffolding on buildings.
“I usually observe [if] the piping and stuff is new. Sometimes, you know, something looks like it’s been there a while, I’ll kind of try to avoid that,” he told his interviewer.

I have no idea why Thompson was casually walking around or why he was asked about construction code, but I’ll take it. Because he just gave me a whole new perspective on scaffolding. This is perhaps the most scorching hot take I’ve heard in a while.
As a New Yorker, scaffolding bothers me. But oftentimes, I’m too busy dodging pigeons, tourists, or people handing out pamphlets to give scaffolding a second thought. It’s a part of the New York skyline.
Now that I’ve heard Klay’s take on scaffolding though, I’ll never think of it in the same way again. You see, Klay Thompson is an outsider. Being from California, he’s probably used to seeing manicured lawns, fountains, and vineyards on his way to work. He wouldn’t risk his life walking under some scrubby scaffolding. So why should I?
