Nick Carter, one of the most notable members of the Backstreet Boys, has been accused of rape by fellow pop singer Melissa Schuman.

Schuman, a member of the girl group Dream, outlined the incident on her personal blog this morning. The post is titled, “Don’t Worry, I Won’t Tell Anybody,” and gives a minute by minute account of her encounter with the world famous singer.

She explains that Carter expressed an early interest in dating her, which only escalated after they were cast for a TV movie together in 2002. He invited her over to his apartment one night and supplied Schuman and her roommate with liquor. “Soon after, he asked me if I would like to come into his office and listen to some new music he was working on. I agreed and was eager to hear his new music,” she explains.

Schuman details Carter’s suspiciously sparse apartment, except for his office. “After kissing for a moment, he took my hand and brought me into the bathroom adjacent to his office. He shut the door and we continued to kiss. I asked him what we were doing in there. He didn’t respond and continued to kiss me. He then pick me up, put me on the bathroom counter and started to unbutton my pants. I told him I didn’t want to go any further. He didn’t listen. He didn’t care.”

She then says Carter took off her pants and brought her to his bedroom. She resisted his attempts but felt helpless. “I felt scared and trapped. He was visually and clearly growing very angry and impatient with me. I couldn’t leave. It was evident to me, that I couldn’t leave. He was stronger and much bigger than me, and there was no way I would be able to open that door or have anyone help me.”

Carter then allegedly raped Schuman. He then said that no one would find out. She didn’t press charges after she was informed that he had “the most powerful litigator in the country.” So she stayed silent while Carter left her abusive and angry messages for weeks. Eventually she came forward to her family and friends and sought help from a therapist but she abandoned her career in show business.

Radar Online reported on the incident earlier this year – but Schuman was shamed into silence by skeptics.

Carter has since responded to Schuman’s claims, telling TMZ today, “I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations. Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual. We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally.”
