The Daily Caller News Foundation has two beer recommendations for this Thanksgiving that we hope you take into account (we also wish you and your family a wonderful holiday).

Founders Brewing Co.’s “Breakfast Stout”

The brewers at Founders put bitter and imported chocolates, flaked oats malt and two varieties of coffee into this breakfast beer. Like many stouts, the Founders’ breakfast beer has a hell of a lot of malt, but in a good way. The coffee and chocolate come at you hard and fast, enveloping the taste buds with thick, bittery goodness.

To balance out the malt, Founders added enough hops to bring the hop content up to over 60 IBUs (international bitterness units). The beer also won a Silver Medal at the 2014 Shanghai International Beer Festival.

Pour one out with the morning oatmeal or pancakes and get yourself well on the way to being the life of the Thanksgiving party.

Lagunitas’ “Hop Stooped Ale”

Once the dishes are away and everyone is on the couch loosening the waistlines on their pants, TheDCNF recommends breaking out the serious, hoppy, drinkable and alcoholic brews. There is limited room left in the stomach and it must be filled with the most delicious, most effective beer that one can get their hands on.

California-based Lagunitas’ “Hop Stoopid Ale” is the beer for after the calm after the storm.

Lagunitas brewers did not hold back any punches with this hopped up, high alcohol beer.

Weighing in at 8 percent alcohol and with over 100 IBUs, Hop Stoopid is just the beer you need to keep the evening rolling and get you through the umpteenth small talk of the evening.

If you choose not to go with TheDCNF’s recommendations, we have a few pointers to help guide you through the day.

Start with something on the lower end of the alcohol spectrum, like a pale ale or pilsner. That’ll help you get a little giddy but will still allow you to cook and do the things that must get done in preparation for the big meal.

Move to the heavier stuff once the meal is digested.

Above all else, enjoy the family and loved ones that have come together in celebration of this most American of holidays.
