Romello Leach, a 22-year-old Colorado Springs Pastor, has been charged with eight felonies stemming from alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl.
According to ABC7 Denver, an affidavit alleges that Leach admitted to committing multiple sexual assaults and impregnating the victim, who allegedly gave birth to Leach’s child on September 15th, just two months after her fifteenth birthday.
An affidavit filed with the court stated that during a phone call with his ex-wife on Tuesday, November 21, Leach admitted to engaging in “at least four” sexual acts with the girl, as well as impregnating her. Court documents indicate that Leach was unaware that deputies were listening in on the conversation.
Leach “admitted the behavior was wrong and stated he was full of lust at the time,” yet tried to blame “everything” on someone else, according to Fox News. He told his ex-wife that he knew he made “the worst mistake,” but reassured her that “it’s not like he will go around and sleep with everybody’s 13 or 14-year-old daughter,” according to the affidavit.
Leach is temporarily being held without bond. He is currently charged with four counts of sexual assault on a child under the age of 15 by someone in a position of trust, as well as four counts of sexual abuse of a child aged 15-18 by someone in a position of trust, The Gazette reports.
Given that Leach was in frequent contact with countless children due to his occupation, deputies are now attempting to identify other potential victims.
