French President Emanuel Macron’s wife Brigitte Macron detailed the couple’s relationship while as his high school theater teacher, in an interview published Monday.
France’s first lady, 64, discussed in an interview with Elle magazine her relationship with her 39-year-old husband. Their unconventional love story started when Brigitte worked as a high school theater teacher where the then 15-year-old Macron was her pupil in Amiens, France. One of her children was also a classmate with Macron.
Macron called her relationship with the high school student “one of artistic equality.” The two would spend Friday nights working on the Eduardo De Filippo play “The Art of Comedy,” reported Paris Match.
“We wrote together on Friday nights—and by Saturday, I couldn’t wait for Friday to come around. I didn’t understand why. It seemed insane,” she said to Elle.

Macron’s father warned the teacher to stay away from his young son until he was 18, however, she said could not promise that, reported Reuters.
She insisted they did not have a romantic relationship at that time, however, she urged Macron to finish his schooling Paris due to “spiteful gossip.”
