President Donald Trump reassured voters Monday that the Republican tax reform bill is progressing but conceded that certain alterations will be made in the coming days.

The Senate is expected to vote on its version of the tax reform bill in the next few days but it remains unclear whether GOP leadership has secured the necessary votes.

Roughly half a dozen Republican senators have yet to verbally commit their support for the legislation, citing various concerns including the repeal of the Obamacare individual mandate and the elimination of state and local deductions among others.

Should the Senate pass their bill, GOP leadership must still contend with the difficult task of reconciling the House and Senate versions, which currently contain numerous inconsistencies.

The White House and top Republicans have repeatedly vowed to pass the legislation by the end of the year, in a timeline that many critics allege was determined simply to allow the Trump administration one major legislative victory in his first year.
