An author spoke out on the recent allegations on the former “Prairie Home Companion” host, saying Wednesday that she was warned about being alone with him.

Alexis Coe, a historian and columnist, explained that her publicist cautioned her never to be alone with Garrison Keillor, an Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) host, when she went on a book tour.

“On book tour, one of my publicists was like, bookstore owners are your best friends–except for Garrison Keillor. Never be alone with him,” Coe tweeted.

Keillor, well known for his radio program, announced himself that MPR fired him over a report on alleged inappropriate behavior in the workplace. According to Keillor, the alleged behavior consisted of him placing his hand on a woman’s back to comfort her, and accidentally sliding his hand into her shirt. By his account he apologized twice and the two remained friendly after.

“Last month, MPR was notified of the allegations which relate to Mr. Keillor’s conduct while he was responsible for the production of A Prairie Home Companion (APHC),” MPR spokeswoman Angie Andresen wrote in a statement. “MPR will end its business relationships with Mr. Keillor’s media companies effective immediately.”
