NBC News correspondent Jenna Bush Hager called Matt Lauer a “mentor,” during an appearance Thursday on the “Today” show.

Bush, former President George W. Bush’s daughter, got emotional while discussing Lauer, who NBC fired late Tuesday for allegedly sexually harassing women.

Lauer is “a man who was a mentor to many of us,” Bush said, reported Fox News. The former first daughter told Hota Kotb how difficult it was watching the “Today” show Wednesday.

“When something rocks your family, it rocks all of us,” Bush said, added that she is praying for anyone involved in the allegations.

WATCH:

Lauer was fired from his position on “Today” after a staffer accused him of sexual harassment during the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games. The former NBC host issued an apology Thursday, calling the experience “humbling.”
