Former FBI Director James Comey and former Attorney General Eric Holder blasted President Donald Trump Sunday for criticizing the way the FBI handled the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
“After years of Comey, with the phony and dishonest Clinton investigation (and more), running the FBI, its reputation is in Tatters – worst in History! But fear not, we will bring it back to greatness,” Trump tweeted Sunday morning. This sparked a response from both Comey and Holder.
Holder said he would not forget Trump’s comments and praised the FBI in his tweet.
“Nope. Not letting this go. The FBI’s reputation is not in ‘tatters,'” Holder tweeted. “It’s composed of the same dedicated men and women who have always worked there and who do a great, apolitical job.”

Comey, who has been taking shots at Trump on Twitter recently, decided to quote himself from a speech he made in June in a tweet directed toward Trump’s jab at the FBI.
“‘I want the American people to know this truth: The FBI is honest. The FBI is strong. And the FBI is, and always will be, independent.’ Me (June 8, 2017),” Comey Tweeted with a photo collage of FBI agents and their logo.

Besides taking occasional shots at the president, the former FBI agent signed a multimillion dollar book deal with Flatiron Books in August. The book is reportedly about leadership.
