Today’s edition of office Bake-Off pits editor against editor in a brutal match for the right to claim the title of “Best Baker.”

Daily Caller News Foundation Editor Emma Colton went into the match with one prior win under her belt. Battle Baked Goods went to Colton for her plethora of baked goods. Daily Caller Editor Julia Nista vowed to claim the office baked goods throne, and decided to use International Cookie Day as the perfect excuse to lay waste to Colton’s record.

Ever the one for flair, Nista threw her hopes on a crisp sugar cookie dipped in melted white chocolate, then coated with candy canes. Colton answered the challenge with a fudge-laden “hot chocolate” cookie, with hot chocolate mix baked right into the dough!

Judges Phillip Stucky of the Foundation, and Martina Markota of The Daily Caller decided to judge for themselves which cookie was superior. Markota liked the firm texture of the sugar cookie, while ultimately acknowledging that it was slightly overcooked.

Comparatively, Colton’s holiday favorite had a rich, gooey texture that delighted Stucky. “It’s comfort food at it’s finest,” he declared before voting in favor of the delicious treat. Markota agreed, citing the unique flavor and near-perfect consistency of the chocolate cookies as a deciding factor in her vote.

The unanimous decision granted Emma undefeated status as the top baker in Washington, D.C.
