Sir Elton John shared on Monday that his mother Sheila Farebrother had died and that he was “in shock” over her death after just seeing her a week ago.
In a post on Instagram, the 70-year-old legendary singer shared a picture of the two of them standing together at some event, both looking fabulous.
The caption next to the post read, “So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning. I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock. Travel safe Mum. Thank-you for everything. I will miss you so much.”

The report noted that until recently the two had been out of touch for nine years due to a family incident.
In May, the “Rocket Man” singer shared a picture of them together and said he was so happy they had reconnected.
“Dear Mum, Happy Mother’s Day! So happy we are back in touch. Love, Elton xo,” John captioned his post.
Earlier this year, the singer had quite a health scare when he had to be hospitalized after contracting a “potentially deadly” bacterial infection during his tour in South America. As a result he had to cancel several tour dates.
