“Morning Joe” cohosts and engaged couple Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski expressed disgust about Matt Lauer’s alleged relationships with other NBC employees, seemingly forgetting the two were also NBC coworkers at the start of their own relationship.

The duo recounted a 2008 Friar’s Club roast of Lauer, where his supposed philandering was one of the main topics of mockery.

“But the whole theme was he does the show and then he has sex with people, with employees. So was this whispered behind closed doors? No, it was shouted from the mountaintops and everybody laughed about it, which tells you what culture used to be,” Scarborough said.

The condemnation from the couple was particularly ironic, considering their own personal history.  Scarborough quietly ended his 12-year year marriage with Susan Warren in 2013. The former couple has two children together.

At the time, rumors circulated that Scarborough and Brzezinski were having an affair while hosting their popular cable morning show, although the two denied it at an event in 2009.

However, Brzezinski divorced her husband of 23 years, Jim Hoffer, in 2016. After news of the split broke, Scarborough and Brzezinski joked about rumors of their affair on-air.

“By the way – there are a lot of lead stories today,” Scarborough said to Brzezinski.

“I will finish your sentence and start with politics,” Brzezinski responded, a wink to a Page Six report about their relationship.

Less than a year after Brzezinski left her husband, Scarborough announced their engagement.  The two are expected to tie the knot in spring 2018.
