A Philadelphia 76ers dancer got the surprise of her life during their game against the Phoenix Suns on Monday night.
Sergeant Elliot Burgos returned home to Philadelphia after an 11-month deployment in Kuwait on Monday and took his longtime girlfriend completely by surprise when he showed up on the court.
The 76ers teased Sergeant Burgos return with a video made to seem like he was still overseas. After playing the video clip on the big screen, Burgos walked out onto the court with a bouquet of flowers and mascot “Franklin the Dog.”
The rookie dancer named Angela couldn’t believe it at first, but immediately rushed down the court and jumped into the veteran’s arms at mid-court to welcome him home.
Clearly she was happy to have him back in her arms after spending nearly a year apart from one another.
Aside from the touching moment at center court, it was a rough night to be a Sixers fan. Suns star player Devin Booker torched them for 46 points to lead his team over Philadelphia to a 115-101 victory.
