The Doug Jones for Senate Committee reportedly sent out flyers with a black man’s face plastered across them in an attempt to reach out to black voters for the upcoming Senate election.

The flyer features a black man with a quizzical expression on his face under the banner,”Think if a black man went after high school girls anyone would try to make him senator?” a photo of the flyer reveals.

A person with the Doug Jones for Senate Committee told The Daily Caller News Foundation that she was “familiar” with the flyer and believed that they sent it out. She could not, however, explain who gave the green light on the ad.

The special election for U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ seat has become a contentious one as various women have come forward to accuse Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual misconduct when they were teenagers. Moore has denied all accusations of sexual impropriety.

Despite having the endorsement from the president, various Republican congressmen have called on Moore to step down.

“Men who hurt little girls should go to jail, not the US Senate,” Jones said previously about the allegations.

The press office for the Doug Jones Senate Committee did not return The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment in time for publication.
