TIME Magazine Honors Victims Of Sexual Assault – Leaves Bill Clinton In A Body Bag
TIME magazine is receiving industry-wide praise for naming “The Silence Breakers,” those who have come forward as victims of sexual harassment, as its Person of the Year.
But in doing so, the TIME writers also took a blunt swing at one of the most sacred cows in the entire Democratic Party, Bill Clinton. Among the beautiful photography and stunning profiles in the piece lies a fact that will be very hard for some Democrats to accept.
Clinton has a detailed history of sexual assault accusations. In its issue honoring victims of sexually assault, TIME had this to say of Clinton:
In politics, at least, what constitutes disqualifying behavior seemed to depend not on your actions but on the allegiance of your tribe. In the 1990s, feminists stood up for accused abuser Bill Clinton instead of his accusers — a move many are belatedly regretting as the national conversation prompts a re-evaluation of the claims against the former President.
The article describes the ongoing upheaval in the political world against candidates and members of Congress from both sides who have a proven history with sexual assault. The writer says “The accused were both Democrats and Republicans, but the consequences thus far have been limited — and often filtered through a partisan lens.”
Many Democrat thought leaders have come out saying Bill Clinton should resign in recent weeks.
