Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace that she has no desire to become the next Secretary of State.

In the Sunday interview Haley was responding to speculation that she might be an appropriate choice for the job if the office’s current occupant, Rex Tillerson, steps down or is fired.

“I know that I am valuable here at the U.N.,” she told Fox. “I think I am effective and I try to do the best I can for the president and the American people.”

Tillerson’s world view is occasionally at odds with President Donald Trump and rumours continue to percolate that Trump is on the verge of firing his senior cabinet official. CIA Director Mike Pompeo has been touted by some as natural successor, especially since Pompeo is a staunch Trump loyalist.

“I would not take it,” Haley responded. “I am perfectly happy in New York in trying to be as effective as I can.”

Haley also addressed Trump’s decision to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to the capitol of Jerusalem.

“It was time,” she said. “It was the right thing to do…we’re going to do like what we do in every other country. We’re going to put the embassy in the capitol.”
