It’s official. Giancarlo Stanton – the 6’6″ reigning NL MVP, the man who hit the most home runs in a non-Steroid Era season since Maris’s 61 in ’61 – is a New York Yankee. Unbelievable how just a season and a half ago, the Yankees had to sell off assets to start a rebuild. And now they are owners of a veritable Murderers’ Row. Literally, 1962, the year after that 1961 Maris v. Mantle season, was the last time two teammates both hit over 50 home runs in the previous season. Now the Yankees have Stanton’s 59 and Judge’s 52 in the same lineup.

Good luck trying to put into words how much elation each and every Yankee fan has felt over the past three days. Everything happened so quickly – from Friday night rumors that the Yankees and Marlins were talking to the official Monday announcement. All I know is I am going to be spending a lot of money this year on Yankees tickets. Every game is must-see TV.

If you have a Yankees fan in your life, odds are he or she is just as excited about watching Judge and Stanton (and Gary and Didi and Bird…and eventually Gleybar) in the Bronx. With the state of NFL football so lackluster this season, the anticipation of spring training just grows and grows. Why must we wait! Luckily, we don’t have to wait for Stanton swag. Fanatics, the official provider of MLB apparel, already has Stanton shirseys and jerseys:
