A dad flipped out after a video captured a “bad Santa” hitting his terrified little boy with a stick, according to a Monday Daily Mail article.

The dad called child protection authorities after receiving a video of his young son, estranged wife and the boy’s uncle. The uncle was dressed up as Santa and was taunting the kid at a nursery school in a village in the northern Romanian county of Bistrita-Nasaud.

“Why are you naughty at nursery school?” says the Santa, taunting the scared boy. The Santa is captured holding a staff and tapping the boy with the wooden stick, while he knelt in a corner with his hands covering his face. The end of the video shows Santa handing the boy presents.

The dad alerted authorities with the video in southeastern Romania. “You can’t do something like that to a child,” said Teodor Sangeorzan, a child protection authority, according to the Daily Mail.

Sangeorzan added that the boy was “emotionally abused and traumatized.”

The mother defended her actions, saying that she wanted “Santa to scare him a little” for some discipline. She also added that he received presents at the end. It is not currently known what punishment the boy’s mother and uncle are facing.
