A veteran who served alongside Roy Moore in Vietnam defended the Alabama GOP Senate candidate against allegations of sexual misconduct during a Monday rally by regaling the crowd with a story of their visit to a brothel.

Bill Staehle, who served as an introductory speaker at the Midland City, Ala. rally, explained that they arrived at the brothel under the assumption that it was a legitimate “private club,” and were surprised to see young girls on offer.

“There were certainly pretty girls. And they were girls. They were young. Some were probably very young,” Staehle recounted, before explaining that Moore found the establishment so distasteful that he immediately said, “We shouldn’t be here, I’m leaving.”

Moore has been accused of preying on teenage girls while in his 30s, but vigorously denies all charges.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon also spoke at the rally, held hours before the polls opened in the special election. Bannon railed against the media and the political class in a venue outfitted with a model swamp to represent the Washington establishment that Moore plans to disrupt.

Moore’s wife, Kayla also served as an introductory speaker and defended her husband against charges of anti-semitism by pointing out that the couple retains a Jewish attorney.

Moore came under fire in early December for his suggestion that Jewish billionaire and Democratic mega donor George Soros is hell-bound.
