Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore’s wife defended the pair against allegations of anti-semitism during a Monday night rally by pointing out that one of their “attorneys is a Jew.”

“Fake news would tell you that we don’t care for Jews,” Kayla Moore said before introducing her husband at a rally in Midland City, Ala.

“I tell you all this because I’ve seen it all, so I just want to set the record straight while they’re here,” she said, gesturing to members of the media.

“One of our attorneys is a Jew,” she continued.

“We have very close friends that are Jewish, and rabbis, we also do fellowship with them.”

Moore faced accusations of anti-semitism in early December after he suggested billionaire Democratic donor George Soros, who is Jewish, will wind up in hell.

“He’s still going to the same place that people who don’t recognize God and morality and accept his salvation are going,” Moore said. “And that’s not a good place.”

The rally, which included a model swamp to represent the establishment political class Moore plans to disrupt, featured former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, former Milwaukee County sheriff David A. Clarke, Jr and GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas; all of whom railed against the political establishment to feed the crowd’s enthusiasm.

The election will likely come down to turnout as recent public opinion polling has been inconclusive as to who has the edge. a Fox News poll released Monday indicated Moore was trailing Democrat Doug Jones by ten points but an Emerson College poll found the reverse.
