House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday afternoon that she does not believe President Donald Trump should have defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016.
“I don’t think he ever should have been president,” Pelosi told reporters Tuesday.
A number of House Democrats have called for the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to investigate the over a dozen sexual assault allegations against Trump.
“I think there’s a course of action here. The committee should allow the investigation to go forward. The court should allow the case to go forward,” Pelosi said.
Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York called on Trump to resign late Monday, or go through a congressional investigation for the “assault allegations” against him. The tweet is likely a response to her statement.
“President Trump should resign,” Gillibrand tweeted. “But, of course, he won’t hold himself accountable. Therefore, Congress should investigate the multiple sexual harassment and assault allegations against him.”
