Sarah Sanders got into a heated exchange with White House reporters over Administration accusations of fake news in Monday’s press briefing. The fire exchange was more of a yelling match than anything, with various reporters asserting that journalists make mistakes, and Sanders countering by saying that they should correct those mistakes, if that’s the case.
At one particularly heated moment, Sanders shouted down an interrupting CNN’s Jim Acosta with three words. “I’m not finished!”
After the briefing’s conclusion, MSNBC anchor Katy Tur went on a peculiar diatribe, apologizing for the journalism profession. She said:
Let’s be clear about something. Reporters make mistakes. We’re human. Sometimes our sources aren’t as good as they should be. Sometimes we speak too soon. Sometimes we mess up. And when the mistake is serious enough, we are suspended or we’re fired.

Then, Tur, who wrote a book about how she almost vomited when Trump became president, said it was Trump who owes journalists an apology:
The president and this White House have mislead the American public multiple times, from things like crowd size to retweeting misleading videos meant to fuel fear… There’s a handy list of 1,628 falsehoods the president has made since taking office.
We’re waiting for the apology on all of those.
Interestingly, Tur was factually incorrect in her breakdown. Later on in the segment, she had to apologize and correct her report because she cited the wrong news outlet:
One quick correction on my part. It was “The Washington Post” that did that list, not “The New York Times.” My mistake.
