There’s one foolproof way to find out whether or not somebody is trustworthy: ask them if they think “Red Dawn” is an outstanding film.

This is without a doubt a hill I’m willing to die on any day of the week. “Red Dawn” is an American classic and anybody who disagrees is probably a secret communist.

Every single young boy in America who had access to firearms as a kid dreamed about a Red Dawn-style scenario. Communists dropping in from the sky, invaders in the homeland and a free pass to light up the enemy.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many soda cans and bottles I blew away as a little kid pretending I was in the middle of an invasion of Soviet forces.

A rag-tag group of high school kids led by Patrick Swayze grabbed weapons, headed to the mountains of Colorado and rained down hell on the communists.

This brings us to my main point. People who don’t love this movie have some serious issues. It doesn’t get much more American than this film. High school kids defending freedom against the Soviets? What’s not to love?

Sounds incredible. Somebody who doesn’t love the idea of Americans lighting up our enemies during an invasion on our home field isn’t somebody you want in your life. That, my friends, is simply a fact.

Anyways, stop what you’re doing right now and go watch “Red Dawn.” It’s what our founding fathers would have truly wanted.
