Co-chairman of 21st Century, Fox Rupert Murdoch, said Thursday that the sexual harassment allegations at Fox News are “largely political” and he believes the network was targeted for being “conservative.”

“It’s all nonsense. There was a problem with our chief executive, over the year, isolated incidents,” Murdoch told Sky News. “As soon as we investigated he was out of the place in hours – well three or four days. And there has been nothing else since then. That was largely political because we are conservative. The liberals are going down the drain. NBC is in deep trouble.”

Murdoch also said that when “bad cases” of harassment or assault arise, “people should be moved aside.” In some cases, Murdoch argued, it “probably amount(s) to a bit of flirting.”

Former Fox News primetime anchor Bill O’Reilly was pushed out of the network in April after sexual harassment allegations surfaced against him.
