Ted Cruz turns 47 years old today, and we could think of no better way to celebrate than taking a look back at some of his most electrifying moments on Twitter.
The Senator for Texas never shies away from an opportunity to make someone look foolish on the social media site, especially when it comes to left-leaning nonsense out there.
The latest example of that was Cruz’ comments against “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill over net neutrality of all things. He handled Hamill with ease, citing examples from his own franchise films to obliterate his argument.
Cute video Ajit “Aren’t I Precious?” Pai -but you are profoundly unworthy 2 wield a lightsaber-A Jedi acts selflessly for the common man-NOT lie 2 enrich giant corporations. Btw-did you pay John Williams his royalty? @AjitPaiFCCorpShill #AJediYouAreNOT pic.twitter.com/SpIcOEySUY

.@HammillHimself Luke, I know Hollywood can be confusing, but it was Vader who supported govt power over everything said & done on the Internet. That’s why giant corps (Google, Facebook, Netflix) supported the FCC power grab of net neutrality. Reject the dark side: Free the net! https://t.co/nARkMvIEYk

Thanks for smarm-spaining it to me @tedcruz I know politics can be confusing, but you’d have more credibility if you spelled my name correctly. I mean IT’S RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU! Maybe you’re just distracted from watching porn at the office again-mh https://t.co/nHpJVG1Wpe

Yes, that’s it. So sorry to misspell your name. Respond not with facts, but with anger. Who was it that said, “Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate”? (1/2) https://t.co/uwMMzgKC1R
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) December 17, 2017
(2/2) Rather than insults, try civil discussion of facts. Fact 1: until 2015, the FCC had NO authority over Internet. The Net grew free & unregulated. Fact 2: W/ “net neutrality” the FCC declared power to regulate everything said & done on Internet. That’s really bad for freedom. https://t.co/uwMMzgKC1R

Then there was that time Deadspin wrote a piece doubting that Ted Cruz can play basketball and tweeted the story out asking for photographic evidence.

Cruz responded in hilarious fashion with a photo of Duke’s star player Grayson Allen, who bears a striking resemblance to the Senator.

Deadspin was not in the mood for jokes.
Go eat shit.
— Deadspin (@Deadspin) January 25, 2017
But that didn’t stop Cruz from making them look childish.

That’s not the only time Cruz has landed a hilarious joke on social media. Back in May the Free Beacon tweeted out a strange, candid photo of senator Chuck Schumer and Ben Sasse, calling for a caption contest. Cruz might have had the best of them all.

“So anyway, it’s a romper for guys and it’s called the RompHim and I just ordered two.” https://t.co/6BNDNZRqrb
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) May 18, 2017
The idea of Schumer rocking a RompHim is enough to make anyone laugh out loud.
It’s not often a United States Senator tweets like Cruz does, but those are just a few examples of what can happen when a politician lets loose and doesn’t take himself quite so serious for a second. And while we can’t be sure that Cruz fired these Twitter flames himself, we sure like to think so.
Here’s to another year of entertaining Twitter moments from the Texas Senator.
