Piers Morgan has credited a viewer with saving his life after she spotted an unusual mark on his chest during a TV program, the Daily Mail reporterd Tuesday.
“When my ‘Serial Killer’ crime documentary aired on ITV in November, Gillian Nuttall, founder of Melanoma UK, emailed me to say: ‘Piers, at the risk of sounding like a lunatic, I’m just watching your program and there’s a blemish visible on your chest. Have you had it checked?'” the 52-year-old TV talk show host explained. (RELATED: How Emily Ratajkowski Responded When Piers Morgan Told Her To ‘Get Some Clothes On’)
Morgan decided it was worth at least contacting a dermatologist over the warning. He made an appointment to have it checked out, and it turned out Nuttall was right.
“This week, a top dermatologist took one look and immediately cut it out,” Morgan shared. “Much further delay, he informed me, and it might well have turned cancerous. ‘Give that lady a gold star!'”
The “Good Morning Great Britain” host thanked Nuttall for saving his life.
“Thanks, Gillian,” the host said. “Oh the irony of a serial killer inadvertently helping to save my life. Merry Christmas!”
“All in a day’s work. So glad he listened. The need for vigilance is clear,” the official Twitter account of Melanoma UK responded Tuesday to Morgan.
