Rihanna called for an end to “gun violence” after sharing news that her cousin was killed in Barbados the day after Christmas, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms,” the 29-year-old singer — whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty — shared in an Instagram post Tuesday along with several pictures of her and her cousin. “Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! The signer, who was born in Barbados, spent the holidays with family the day before her cousin was killed. A local news station reported Tuesday that 21-year-old Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne was killed when he was walking near his home after a man shot him several times and then left the scene. Police are still searching for the suspect.

On Wednesday, she shared a video of her cousin. The caption next to the post read, “”It’s nice to wake up” Be grateful for life man. #RIPTavon @merka_95.”
