Forbes released their list of top-grossing actors of 2017 earlier this week, and the man who sits on top might surprise a bunch of movie fans out there.
Vin Diesel holds the top spot on the list with $1.6 billion in earnings from global ticketing, thanks to the wildly successful “Fate of the Furious,” the eighth installment in the “Fast and the Furious” franchise.

While Diesel taking the top spot comes as a shock, it should be no surprise that his co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is just behind him at No. 2 on the list after pulling in $1.5 billion over the past year. Gal Gadot earned the No. 3 spot with $1.4 billion thanks to her blockbuster hit “Wonder Woman” and Emma Watson trailed just behind her earning $1.3 billion on the year.
Fans might also be surprised to see that Johnny Depp sits at the No. 5 spot on the list. Depp has been wrapped up in a high-stakes legal battle with his former financial advisors for much of the year after suing them for his own financial ruin. The $1.1 billion he made will likely help him get his finances back on track — that is if he doesn’t blow it by getting back into his outrageous spending habits that made him go broke in the first place.
