Danny McBride turned 41 years old today, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by remembering his performance as Kenny Powers in “Eastbound & Down.”

McBride as the washed-up baseball player was one of the greatest acting performances I’ve ever seen. I don’t care if McBride ever acts again the rest of his life. He’s already legendary in my book.

I dare anybody to tell me they saw that show and didn’t love it. Everything about the show and McBride was amazing.

He’s had some other great roles, too. McBride was awesome in “Vice Principals,” “Tropic Thunder” and “Pineapple Express,” but nothing compares to Kenny Powers.

I’ll be absolutely shocked if I ever see another show in my lifetime as funny as “Eastbound & Down.” I know it’s a bold proclamation, but I honestly think it’s true.

My college roommates and I used to slug out an entire seasons of that show during a weekday afternoon. My grades might have suffered, but I regret nothing because time spent with Kenny Powers is time well spent.
