A grand jury formally indicted Thursday the Modesto, Cali. man who was allegedly plotting to blow up San Francisco’s Pier 39 the week of Christmas.

The jury indicted Everitt Aaron Jameson on one charge of attempting to provide material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization and one charge of distribution of information relating to destructive devices, reports CBS San Francisco.

Each of the charges comes with a sentence of 20 years and a $250,000 fine, according to ABC7.

The FBI arrested Jameson Dec. 22, 2017 after he confessed to an undercover FBI agent his plan to blow up the pier in an attempt to show support to ISIS. He choose Pier 39 because he felt that it would allow him to cause the most damage, according to the indictment. Jameson added that he choose Christmas Day because it was the “perfect day” to commit the attack.

A lawyer for Jameson argued that his client is mentally ill and does not have the proper capacities to be able to carry out such an attack.
