Colorado Senate Democrats came out in full force Thursday against a new policy that would allow federal prosecutors to decide if they want to use their resources to go after marijuana, effectively nixing a former President Barack Obama administration policy that did the opposite.

The politicians are refusing to give up their pot to the federal government, telling Attorney General Jeff Sessions he would have to pry it from their “warm, extremely interesting to look at” hands.

“We’ll give Jeff Sessions our legal pot when he pries it from our warm, extremely interesting to look at hands,” the group said in their tweet.

Sessions scrapped a series of Obama-era memos saying while marijuana was still illegal in the country, federal prosecutors could focus on other illegal activities as long as states were not breaking other laws.

“In deciding which marijuana activities to prosecute under these laws with the department’s finite resources, prosecutors should follow the well-established principles that govern all federal prosecutions,” Sessions wrote in a memo.”These principles require federal prosecutors deciding which cases to prosecute to weigh all relevant considerations of the crime, the deterrent effect of criminal prosecution, and the cumulative impact of particular crimes on the community.”
