Deputy White House press secretary Hogan Gidley referred to author Michael Wolff as a “crackpot fake news fiction writer” on Fox News Thursday.

WATCH:

Gidley, appearing on Fox News’ “Outnumbered Overtime With Harris Faulkner,” said, “By [Wolff’s] own admission and quite frankly, his reputation, is one of a crackpot fake news fiction writer.”

He added, “And you don’t have to look too far–the people quoted in the book, many of them have already come out on the record and said ‘you lied, I never said those things.’ So, it’s pretty obvious that this book is filled with falsehoods and out and out lies. The president called them out. He’s never been one to shy away from a fight and this is obviously a hit job on the president, but one that is filled with lies and we believe that the future will prove our side of that case.” (RELATED: Trump Savages Steve Bannon Over Quotes To Michael Wolff)
