MSNBC confirmed to The Daily Caller shortly before Christmas that the network made a payment to an assistant producer on “Hardball” after she accused Matthews of sexual harassment. The network referred to the payment as “separation-related” and said that Matthews received a formal reprimand.
Two former NBC producers who were at the network when the payment was made are now telling TheDC’s Amber Athey that the woman disappeared from the network “overnight” after she complained. One producer said the woman challenged Matthews’ harassment and accused Matthews of taking retribution against her for doing so.
