Planned Parenthood thanked a myriad of celebs and entertainers in its recently released 2016-2017 annual report, applauding musicians and Hollywood stars for their contributions to the organization.
“Thanks to a group of high-profile musicians, artists, writers, comedians, and thought leaders, this year 7-inches for Planned Parenthood was released — a curated benefit project made up of seven-inch vinyl records and digital downloads of original content,” Planned Parenthood wrote in its report.
“We are incredibly grateful to have the support of so many artists and entertainers who are standing with Planned Parenthood,” Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards said in the album’s opening track.
Some of the notable artists featured in the album include: Margaret Atwood, Mary J. Blige, Foo Fighters, Bon Iver, John Legend, Sarah Silverman and Elliott Smith. All of the album’s proceeds went to the abortion giant’s operations.
Planned Parenthood also touted its #IDefy youth campaign in its report, encouraging youngsters to get involved in the movement for women’s reproductive avenues and abortion access.
“We are here today to thank generations of organizers, troublemakers, and hell-raisers who formed secret sisterhoods, who opened Planned Parenthood health centers in their communities, and demanded the right to control their own bodies,” the abortion organization also wrote in its report, echoing its 2017 theme of resistance.
Planned Parenthood operates 597 facilities in the U.S. as of Dec. 1, compared to 700 facilities it operated in 1973, according to LifeNews. The abortion giant opened five new clinics in 2017, and closed 32. (RELATED: Here’s How Many Planned Parenthood Clinics Closed In 2017).
