The medical history revelations come just a week after Utah Senator Orrin Hatch announced he would not be seeking re-election, citing old-age. Romney was reportedly discussing running for the now open Senate seat in 2018 if Hatch retired.
The former Massachusetts governor shared a phone call with President Donald Trump in recent days who’s had a contentious relationship with in the past. Romney delivered a now famous speech decrying Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and actively worked to deny the president the Republican nomination.
Romeny updated his location on his Twitter profile after Hatch’s retirement announcement, in a move widely seen as preparatory for a Senate run.
