Ivanka Trump on Monday praised Oprah Winfrey for an “empowering” speech she gave at the Golden Globes on Sunday night.

Trump’s comment is surprising given the widespread response generated by Winfrey’s speech that she could run for president in 2020.

The speech, which Winfrey gave while accepting the Cecile B. de Mille award, focused heavily on the “Me Too” movement that has gained traction in the wake of a series of sexual misconduct revelations about some of Hollywood’s biggest male stars.

“I want all of the girls watching here now to know, that a new day is on the horizon,” said Winfrey.

Winfrey’s speech received a standing ovation from the Golden Globe audience and immediately generated buzz among journalists and pundits that she is plotting a 2020 presidential bid. Speculation over Winfrey’s political future dominated headlines through the day on Monday.

A White House spokesman responded to the prospect of a Winfrey challenge of Trump.

“We welcome the challenge whether it be Oprah Winfrey or anybody else,” White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told reporters.
