Let it be known and clearly stated here without reservation: If Republicans again help pass an amnesty bill, no matter what legalistic or deceptive name it is given without first securing the border and building a wall where it is needed, enough Republican voters will stay home next November that the majority will be surrendered to the Democrats.
Following that devastating loss, the first order of business for new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in January 2019 in the 116th Congress will be an impeachment vote regarding President Donald J. Trump. The great hope for a return to the rule of law that was created when President Trump was elected will be gone.
As we began this new year in Congress, we have heard about discussions between House and Senate “leaders,” regarding the promises they made to certain House and Senate members that they will indeed get a vote to reinstate President Obama’s DACA amnesty.
The president said yesterday he trusts the Members of the House and Senate in the room with him at the time to create an appropriate DACA bill and he will “do” it. He knows most everyone in the room was not supportive of him, even a few weeks before his election. Yet he wants to work with them to the point he is trying to be extremely gracious. The problem is that a large number of people in the room with him can be trusted to do what they can to stab him in the back. Their goal would be to get him to sign something that would violate the promises made by the president to his voters who ushered in the breathtaking election of 2016.
No wall has been built nor is it being constructed right now on our southern border despite President Trump’s constant pushing and urging Congress to get it done. These House and Senate “leaders” have not found the time or ability to provide much more than token startup costs as they continue to talk of a coming non-amnesty amnesty.
Anyone who brings any type of legislation to the House and Senate floors that gives any legal status to groups who are not here legally before the wall is built will be the proximate cause of betraying the determined voters who elected Donald J. Trump as president. History will more than “little note” and will certainly “long remember” that the United States was undone by these elected leaders who were so concerned with getting accolades from the left-wing media that they rallied their followers into handing the majority to the Democratic party, which ended the last, best chance to Make America Great Again.
After President Trump took office, the number of people pouring into this country illegally slowed to a trickle. But according to Border Patrolmen, that trickle became a flood again last year after those entering illegally learned that the deep state was keeping the president from keeping his promises. Trump voters in 2016 instinctively knew they had to do something to try to save the country that once believed the rule of law should be applied to everyone.
Undeniably, candidate Trump’s most consistent and unyielding promise was to build a wall to secure the border. Yet, the wall is not built and illegal border crossings are now moving back toward the record pace of the Obama regime. Isn’t it interesting that none of the legislators who want to pass DACA want a wall on our southern border.
Those same Republican leaders now advising President Trump that we need this amnesty are the same ones who urged their Republican colleagues in October of 2016 to run from Donald Trump; to save themselves and their Congressional seats, “so we can keep our majority and hold President Hillary Clinton accountable.”
Some of us who support the rule of law noted back when that was said that we had not yet been allowed to hold anyone accountable for the illegal, unconstitutional, and deadly “Fast & Furious” scandal; nor the IRS for being weaponized in an election; nor for the refusal of the Executive Branch to cooperate with Congressional investigations and subpoenas. The Republican majority did not even get to the bottom of Benghazi, nor the selling of American uranium to Russian control, nor stop the sending of billions of dollars to Iran, the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world. Both the press and Congress even let pass the spying on reporters who the White House did not like, not to mention the spying on others in government as well. The list goes on and on.
Some in Congress knew and, fortunately, enough American voters knew there would be no coming back to our status as a great nation after the lawlessness a Hillary presidency would unleash. We rallied support for a chance to make America once again mean something to ourselves and posterity.
Donald Trump’s instincts were right on target in 2015 and 2016. House and Senate elected leaders were wrong and nearly cost the country everything that is just and right. Now those same leaders are showing us once again that it is still not too late for them to cost the country its last chance to once more achieve greatness.
Let’s help the president keep the promises that got him elected. There can never again be an amnesty before the border is completely secure, without the last best hope for America being snuffed out. Making America Great Again is not just a slogan. It is a worthy goal that is within reach if we don’t blow it.
