Congressman Steve King told Vince Coglianese, The Daily Caller’s editorial director, Wednesday that President Trump now “has a different objective” on immigration than when he was campaigning.

The Iowa Republican, and one of the fiercest immigration hawks in Congress, told Coglianese and his WMAL co-host Mary Walter that he does not share “confidence” the president expressed during a Tuesday White House meeting that congress will send him an immigration bill that restores the “respect of the rule of law.”

“I expected the president on January 20th of last year, shortly afternoon noon, would end the DACA program, which we all agree is unconstitutional,” King explained. “Donald Trump was elected in a significant part on his promise to restore the rule of law, end DACA, and of course secure the border and enforce immigration law and enhance immigration enforcement across the country.”

“The promise of ‘I’ll sign the bill you send me,’ essentially says I’ll make this easy for you. One of the conditions seems to be DACA amnesty.”
