A technical issue Thursday afternoon left MSNBC host Ali Velshi staring blankly in silence at the camera for more than 10 seconds in the middle of his show, before returning to his coverage of the markets.

An advertisement for Ameriprise Financial randomly interrupted Velshi while he was discussing the Dow Jones market index hitting a new high before it randomly ended without finishing. When the camera cut back to Velshi, he seemed to think he was just then cutting for a break, leading to a painfully awkward pause while he looked into the camera with no audio.

WATCH:

Velshi told viewers they had the privilege of “staring at me” right before his audio cut out once again.
