CNN commentator Symone Sanders called Martin Luther King Jr.’s nephew “clearly ignorant” Saturday — all because he doesn’t think that President Trump is a racist.
MLK’s nephew Isaac Newton Farris Jr. told CNN Friday, “I don’t think that President Trump is a racist in the traditional sense as we know in this country. I think President Trump is racially ignorant or racially uninformed. But I don’t think that he’s a racist in the traditional sense.” (RELATED: CNN Asked MLK’s Nephew If Trump Was Racist, His Response Leaves Them Stunned)
Symone Sanders didn’t find this to her liking.
“I do not agree with that,” she said.
“So one, I don’t care that he’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s nephew. He is clearly ignorant of the facts, and the facts support that this president, this current President of the United States Donald Trump–he has sympathized and empathized and identified with white supremacists. He has repeatedly engaged in rhetoric that others people of color in this country. And, I believe the president is racist. So, you know, he’s not ‘racially ignorant.’ This is a man that started his campaign saying that Mexico is sending some of the worst, they’re sending rapists and murderers.”
“He said that Judge Curiel, a judge of Mexican heritage, Mexican descent, could not do his job because of his heritage, because of his culture, because of his ethnicity. If that’s not racist, I don’t really know what is.” (RELATED: CNN’s Symone Sanders: White People Aren’t Allowed To Criticize NFL Kneeling [VIDEO])
