“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough claimed Tuesday that President Donald Trump wants to bar immigrants who aren’t white from entering the U.S. and pushed Democrats to oppose his agenda at every turn.
Scarborough said Democrats can’t afford to delay the immigration debate any longer and suggested they seize upon Trump’s recent comments to score political points.
“Do it now when the focus is now, on the president of the United States making bigoted comments because he wants to keep out people who are not white. Who are not from Norway. Who may be highly educated, but who may be brown or black,” Scarborough said. “Now is the time for Democrats to stand up and have a spine.”

Scarborough thinks the Democratic Party has blown multiple chances to push back against the White House and said if he were still in power, he would try to shut the government down.
“We’ve been taking about how the Democratic Party has missed so many opportunities in the past,” he said. “Let me say it from a former Republican. I would shut the government down in a second and I would pound, pound Democrats if they were in this position. If I were in Congress in their position now, everyday I’d take to the floor. Everybody would take to the floor.”
Scarborough claimed he would be actively opposing Trump “24 hours a day” on all platforms and would make immigration an issue of morals, instead of security.
“We would talk about the President’s racist comments 24 hours a day. We would flood the cable news channels. Talk about it 24 hours a day. We would make this an issue of morality,” Scarborough concluded. “We wouldn’t be talking about Mexicans streaming across the border illegally.”
