Somehow Will Ferrell ended up on the court at the Australian Open on Monday night and he got a chance to interview the greatest tennis player of all time in the process.

Of course, Ferrell couldn’t help but go into character when he got caught up in the moment and conducted the hilarious interview as the famous Ron Burgundy.

The short, spontaneous interview was nothing but pure perfection from Ferrell and Federer handled the jokes with class, and the crowd seemed to love it although he clearly wasn’t the funniest guy on the court. Oh, and John McEnroe was standing by for the interview, laughing all the way through. (RELATED: John McEnroe Just Ranked Serena Williams As A Tennis Player And She’s Nowhere Near The Top)

We’re not sure why Ferrell ended up on the court, but tennis would be a whole lot more entertaining if they let him out there more often.
