More than 130 Democrats in the House of Representatives introduced a resolution to officially reprimand President Donald Trump for referring to African nations and other as either “shithole” or “shithouse” countries Thursday.

“It’s important for the world to know that’s not how we think, that’s not how we feel,” Louisiana Democratic Rep. Cedric Richmond said Thursday during a press conference. “The people from these countries, the leadership of these countries, were hurt.”

The censure movement is led by the Congressional Black Caucus, where Richmond is a member, and other Democrats have signed on to officially reprimand Trump for his remarks Jan. 11 where he allegedly said he didn’t want more immigrants from “shithole countries,” referencing countries that have protected visa status like Haiti and El Salvador, plus several African nations.

Some politicians who attended the closed-door meeting at the White House disagree that Trump said sh*thole, and some sources familiar with the discussion suggest that Trump said “shithouse” instead. The censure motion would reprimand Trump for either profanity, and would request Trump retract and apologize for his statement.

The resolution has been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary, where it would have to be approved before moving to a floor vote. It faces opposition by the Republican majority there, and would be difficult to get to the House floor.

An earlier censure resolution was introduced to discipline Trump for commenting that both sides were to blame for violence in Charlotteslville, Va., in 2017, but that motion never made it to the House floor.

“We will be asking Republican Leadership to bring our resolution of censure up for swift consideration and approval,” the sponsors of the resolution said in a statement. “Congress must speak with one voice in condemning these offensive and anti-American remarks. There is no excuse for it.”
