The loyal fans and readers have weighed in on whether or not I successfully completed the direct message challenge, and the outcome is good news for me.

For those who might have forgotten or don’t know, there was a full blown crisis in the office after we got into a gray area over a direct message from a model with four million Instagram followers.

It all came down to the wording of the original rules, which were as follows:

1) The woman must have at least a million followers on social media.

2) I am not allowed to contact them first. They must contact me first. Obviously the whole purpose of this would be defeated if I sent the initial message. Messages can come through on any platform. Twitter, E-mail (hookstead@dailycaller.com), Facebook or however they get it to me (emphasis added).

3) It must be completed before April 18, 2018. I turn 26 on April 17, and we’ve agreed on this deadline for this experiment.

Now, I was on the fence on whether or not a model DMing a Twitter account I run should count, but the majority of the people in the office were very much against it. They didn’t care what the agreed on rules where, but all of a sudden had a problem with the way the rules had been worded. Seems like something we should have settled in September and not in January after I’ve got a model in my DMs and a crisis on my hands.

So, I decided to let the readers weigh in, and they overwhelmingly supported this as a win for me. In fact, more than 70% of voters think this situation counts as a win. That’s what we like to call in the business a landslide.

I’m sure plenty of people will try to discredit this as a win, despite the outcome of the votes. We’ll probably have congressional investigations, a special prosecutor and wall-to-wall news coverage. Now, I could easily rub this in people’s faces, but I’m far to humble for that type of attitude.

The voices of the people must rule, and they have decided this was a win for me. Who am I to tell them that they’re wrong? I guess we have no choice but to chalk this up to another win. A less humble man would probably feel the need to brag. I’ll just get back to work and prepare for a day of football.
