Authorities say a man from New Hampshire was placed under arrest after biting one of their police dogs Tuesday.

The police were investigating a possible shooting in Boscawen when they came upon a victim who had been shot, according to Reuters. Two of the people at the residence were wanted by authorities, and police say they attempted to resist arrest.

Officers discovered someone was hiding in the trailer at the far end of the property. They claim the suspect ignored warnings and commands forcing them to deploy their K-9 Veda. The suspect began punching and kicking the dog before putting her in a choke-hold and biting her head, according to the New Hampshire Canine Trooper’s Association’s Facebook page.

Police were eventually able to subdue the suspect and place him under arrest. He is facing charges of: Resisting Arrest, Interference With a Police Dog, and Assault on a Police Officer.

“Both of them resisted arrest and one very strongly resisted arrest. He bit the dog, the dog bit him, he ended up getting tasered,”  Lt. Jason Killary of the Boscawen Police Department told Reuters.

The dog was mostly unharmed and medically cleared to return to duty.
