Debbie Wasserman Schultz told CNN’s Brooke Baldwin Monday afternoon that she was disappointed that Democrats sided with Republicans to reopen the government.

Earlier on Monday, Schultz’s Democratic colleagues in the Senate voted to reopen the government by a large majority giving the GOP a win in immigration negotiations.

When Schultz was asked about the possibility of a negotiation with Trump over the border wall, Schultz sniffed that no Democrat wants a border wall and few Republican do either.

“None of us…I don’t know any Democrats who support this wall and most Republicans don’t support it.”

Baldwin called out Schultz on the comment, stating that Democrats had been on her show claiming they would “personally” help Trump build the wall if it ensured DACA recipients became citizens.

Earlier in the interview, when asked by Baldwin if the Democrats got anything to “justify shutting down the government in the first place?” DWS replied:

“The one thing, I would say, that [Schumer] did get is the potential for momentum.”

Baldwin looked stunned and asked if the “potential for momentum” was “really worth it to shut down the government?”

Wasserman Schultz responded “Republicans should be asking that question because they shut it down. This is Trump’s shutdown.”

Not a great week for Democrat messaging.
