Chicago just opened another Planned Parenthood clinic that performs abortions because not enough of its other clinics offer life-ending abortive services.
“There are a number of health care centers in the south suburbs but none (others) offer full reproductive care services,” Planned Parenthood Illinois manager Julie Lynn said Thursday, according to the Chicago Tribune. The new center, located near Governor’s Highway, opened quietly Jan. 11, as the location was chosen largely because it has no public sidewalk and thus evades the possibility of demonstrations by pro-lifers outside the clinic.
Mayor Paul Braun, who did not receive an invitation to the opening, told the Chicago Tribune that he wished Planned Parenthood had been more transparent during the process.
Lynn, however, celebrated the increase in abortion access that women in Chicago’s Southland area will now be privy to, despite the fact that there are 40 facilities in Illinois that perform abortions, the National Abortion Federation reports.
The clinic’s grand opening comes shortly before Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards indicated Wednesday that she plans to step down following her 10-year tenure as president of the company. Planned Parenthood has aborted 7,132,130 babies since Margaret Sanger founded the abortion organization. Its doctors aborted more than 328,348 unborn babies in 2016, and killed 6,803,782 unborn babies between 1978 and 2016, according to CNS News. The clinic’s opening is the first of 2018, following a trend of clinic closures. Planned Parenthood closed 32 clinics in 2017, and now operates less than 600 facilities in the country as of Dec. 1, compared to 700 facilities it operated in 1973, according to LifeNews. Planned Parenthood’s other services have also continued to decline. The abortion giant performed more than 1 million breast exams in 1999, but only 363,803 in 2014. Planned Parenthood offered only one adoption referral for every 114 abortions in 2016.
