Ana Navarro is a frequent face on CNN, often making the headlines for her vocal opposition to President Trump—usually in the form of wacky statements. On Monday, she compared recent dismissals in the Trump administration to the Holocaust following FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s resignation.

The talking head made her comparison by appropriating Martin Niemoller’s famous poem, “First they came…,” which originally referred to the cowardice of Germans who allowed the Nazis to rise to power.

She wrote on Twitter:

First, he came for Comey, & they didn’t speak out b/c they were Trump apologists

Then, he came for McCabe, & they didn’t speak out b/c they were Trump apologists

Next, he’ll come for Rosestein & they won’t speak out b/c they’re Trump apologists

Last, he’ll come for Mueller…

The tweet, which quickly went viral following retweets by proud Hillary supporters and anti-Trump activists, received plenty of support on the left, with many echoing her view that Trump and his administration is leading America to a new age of fascism.

In Navarro’s replies, some Democrats feared that “they” (as in Trump and his supporters) would eventually come for anyone who speaks out against the president.

The Daily Caller reported earlier Monday that McCabe’s decision was not surprising as he had already made plans to retire in a couple of months—and that his move to retire was accelerated by FBI Director Christopher Wray, who wants to place his own team into FBI leadership.

Navarro’s histrionic remarks about McCabe’s retirement are in line with anti-Trump hysteria endemic among the Left, replete with comparisons to Adolf Hitler’s Germany.
