In his 2010 State of the Union speech, then-President Barack Obama warned Democrats against becoming the party of resistance, but clearly his brethren have ignored his advice.

“Just saying ‘no’ to everything may be good short term politics, but it’s not leadership,” Obama said at the time. “We were sent here to serve our citizens, not our ambitions.”

Yet just a year after their leader left office, an America Rising PAC video shows that Democrats have gone all-in on being the de-facto party of resistance.

“Look, if it works… what I want to do is I want everyone in this country to lift their voices and be heard,” Senator Elizabeth Warren said when asked if she accepted being a leader of the “anti-Trump resistance.”

“And when we are united we are strongest as a party, as a nation, as a resistance movement,” DNC chair Tom Perez similarly said during a 2017 rally.

In fact, several members of the Democratic Party are even refusing to attend Trump’s SOTU address on Tuesday night because they don’t want to give him the “honor.” Eleven Democrats, including Reps. Maxine Waters and Frederica Wilson, will instead attend a separate women’s event.
