CNN commentator Van Jones claimed that President Trump was “selling sweet-tasting candy with poison in it” during his State of the Union address Tuesday.

“Let me just say, master salesperson, he used all of those stories really well. He was selling sweet-tasting candy–with poison in it,” Jones said.

The president also raised eyebrows by proclaiming that “we put our hands on our hearts for the pledge of allegiance” and “we proudly stand for the national anthem” in a thinly veiled swipe at NFL kneeling protesters.
